Serpstat is one of the more underrated all-in-one SEO platforms. For a lower price than Semrush or Ahrefs, it bundles keyword research, keyword clustering, rank tracking, site audits, backlink analysis, competitor research and an API into one subscription.

That breadth is also why replacing it is harder than it looks. Someone leaving Serpstat might be frustrated by the daily search limits, might want deeper backlink data, might need API access without jumping to the Team plan, or might simply want a tool that is easier to use. Those are different problems with different answers.

So the useful question is not "what is the best Serpstat alternative?" It is **what part of Serpstat are you actually trying to replace, and why?**

I researched the current alternatives by separating those jobs instead of comparing feature counts. I checked vendor pricing pages and documentation in September 2026, reviewed the free access available today, and compared where each tool fits without pretending that every SEO suite is interchangeable.

**Quick answer:** the closest like-for-like Serpstat alternative is **SE Ranking** (Core $129/month), which covers the same keyword, rank tracking, audit and backlink jobs with a stronger agency workflow. For deeper data, move up to **Semrush** (SEO Toolkit from $139.95/month) or **Ahrefs** (Lite $129/month, Starter $29/month). For a simpler and cheaper keyword toolkit, use **Mangools** (from $37.70/month billed annually). To turn SEO data into prioritized work, use **RankBuddy** (from $29/month). And if you mainly use Serpstat for its API or bulk data, **keeping Serpstat** is often the cheapest option.

***

## TL;DR: the best Serpstat alternatives by use case

* **Best free starting point:** Google Search Console + Google Ads Keyword Planner
* **Closest like-for-like alternative:** SE Ranking
* **Best for deeper SEO and competitor data:** Semrush
* **Best for backlinks and organic competitors:** Ahrefs
* **Best simpler and cheaper keyword toolkit:** Mangools
* **Best if SEO research needs to become work:** RankBuddy
* **Best budget all-in-one:** Ubersuggest
* **Best for PPC competitor research:** SpyFu

If you like Serpstat's all-in-one model but have hit its limits, compare SE Ranking and Semrush. If the problem is complexity, look at Mangools or Ubersuggest. If you already have enough SEO data but struggle to act on it, that is where RankBuddy fits.

## How much does Serpstat cost in 2026?

Serpstat's current plans, taken from its pricing page in September 2026:

| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing (per month) | Key limits |
| ---------- | --------------- | -------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Individual | $69/month | $50/month | 5 projects, 100 searches/day, 50,000 export rows/month, no API |
| Team | $129/month | $100/month | Unlimited projects, 500 searches/day, API, ChatGPT/Claude (MCP) integration |
| Agency | $499/month | $410/month | 5,000 searches/day, 1.5M audited pages/month, white-label reports |

Annual billing saves up to 27%. There is a 7-day free trial, with a $1 card verification charge that is refunded, and a permanent freemium tier with 10 searches a day.

![Serpstat homepage: one box for a domain, keyword or URL, with a free 7 day trial offered](https://rankbuddy.io/i/1e5c819d-798b-491f-ae52-d3f0d15f24c7)

Two details matter for anyone comparing alternatives:

* **The Individual plan has no API access.** API, the MCP integration, AI tools, batch analysis and scheduled reports start on Team at $100–$129/month.
* **Daily search limits shape the workflow.** 100 searches a day on Individual is enough for a single site, but it runs out quickly during a large competitor or keyword-gap session.

At $50–$69 a month, Serpstat is already one of the cheaper full SEO suites. You should not switch just because another tool calls itself "cheaper." The reason to change is usually that **the job changed**.

***

## Is there a free version of Serpstat?

Yes, but it is very limited. Serpstat has a permanent freemium tier: you currently get 10 searches a day for sites, keywords and links, plus 10 pages of site audit. There is also a 7-day trial of the paid Individual or Team plans if you want to test the full workflow, and when it ends the account returns to the freemium limits.

If you are looking for a **free Serpstat alternative**, no single free tool replaces the whole suite. But a small free stack covers the most common jobs:

| Free tool | What you get for free | What it does not replace |
| -------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| Serpstat Free | 10 searches a day for sites, keywords and links, 10 audit pages | Real research volume, API |
| Google Search Console | Real queries, clicks, impressions and positions for your site | Competitor data |
| Google Ads Keyword Planner | Keyword ideas, search-volume ranges, bid estimates | Keyword difficulty, SERP analysis |
| Ahrefs Free | Backlinks and site audit for sites you verify | Competitor research |
| Screaming Frog (free) | Technical crawl of up to 500 URLs | Keywords, rankings, backlinks |
| SpyFu free searches | A truncated look at a competitor's organic and paid keywords | Full lists, exports, tracking |
| RankBuddy | 5 free runs of audits, competitor analysis or content work | Large raw keyword databases |

I show how I would combine them in the [$0 stack](#how-i-would-replace-serpstat-for-0) further down.

| **Ubersuggest** | Limited | $29/mo or $290 lifetime | Basic | Yes | Basic | Yes | No | Limited | Budget all-in-one |
| **SpyFu** | Limited free searches | $39/mo | Strong | Yes | Basic | Yes | Pro plan | Limited | PPC competitor research |

The most important columns are **API** and **helps execute SEO**. Serpstat's API is one of its genuine advantages at its price, and most alternatives either lock API access behind expensive tiers or do not offer it at all.

***

## What are you actually trying to replace from Serpstat?

This is the question I would answer before paying for another subscription.

### Keyword research and clustering

Serpstat's keyword research is strong for the price, and its keyword clustering is one of the features people use most: it groups keywords by shared search results so you can plan one page per intent.

Semrush and Ahrefs go deeper on keyword databases and SERP analysis. Mangools is simpler and more pleasant for quick research. RankBuddy's [keyword research](https://rankbuddy.io/features/keyword-research) takes a different approach: it groups keywords by intent and maps them against the pages your site already has, so you see which page to create or update rather than just another cluster export.

### Rank tracking

Serpstat's Rank Tracker is solid, with position checks counted against your plan. If tracking is central to your work, especially for clients, SE Ranking is the stronger dedicated option because tracking and reporting are the core of the product.

For your own site, Google Search Console shows which queries actually produced impressions and clicks, which is a different question from tracking a fixed keyword list. I explain the difference in [rank tracking vs SEO monitoring](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/rank-tracking-vs-seo-monitoring).

### Site audit

Serpstat's Site Audit covers the standard technical checks. Ahrefs, Semrush and SE Ranking have more mature audit workflows, and Screaming Frog gives you far more control if you are comfortable with a desktop crawler. If you just want a quick check, RankBuddy has a free [SEO audit tool](https://rankbuddy.io/tools/seo-audit-tool).

### Backlink analysis

Serpstat has its own backlink index, but backlinks are rarely the reason people choose it. For serious competitor backlink work I would use Ahrefs, which has much deeper referring-domain, anchor, link-gap and history workflows. My [free Ahrefs alternative](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/free-ahrefs-alternative) guide covers the free and paid options.

### Competitor research

Serpstat shows competitors' organic and paid keywords, top pages and keyword gaps. Semrush is the broader upgrade here. If paid-search history is what you need, SpyFu is more specialized; I compared it in my [SpyFu alternative](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/spyfu-alternative) guide.

### API and bulk data

This is where Serpstat is hardest to replace. Its Team plan includes API access for search analytics, backlinks, rank tracking and audits from $100/month on annual billing, plus an MCP integration for ChatGPT and Claude. Semrush and Ahrefs put API access behind much more expensive tiers, Mangools includes API and MCP access on every plan, while Ubersuggest and most simpler tools do not offer a public API at all.

If you pull Serpstat data into your own dashboards, scripts or AI workflows, count that cost carefully before switching.

### Turning SEO data into execution

This is the gap that matters most to me. Serpstat can surface hundreds of keyword clusters and technical issues in an afternoon. I still need to decide:

* Which clusters actually fit my business?
* Do I already have a page that should target them?
* Can my site's authority realistically compete?
* Should I update an existing page or create a new one?
* Which technical issue matters more than which content opportunity?
* What should happen first this week?

That is where SEO research stops being a data problem and becomes an execution problem. My [content gap analysis guide](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/content-gap-analysis-guide) walks through that step.

***

## Why people look for a Serpstat alternative

Serpstat is good value, so I would not invent reasons to leave it. The reasons that make sense are specific:

* **Daily search limits.** 100 searches a day on Individual is fine for one site, but agencies and heavy research sessions hit it fast. [Spike's comparison](https://getspike.ai/blog/serpstat-alternatives/) describes a single keyword-gap analysis consuming a large share of a monthly allowance.
* **API costs more than it first appears.** API access starts on Team, so the real price for anyone who needs it is $100–$129/month, not $50.
* **Learning curve.** Serpstat packs a lot into its interface. People who want a calmer workflow often move to Mangools or Ubersuggest.
* **Data outside core markets.** Some users report that keyword volumes in smaller or non-English markets lag behind what they see in Search Console. Check your own markets before committing to any tool.
* **You want deeper data.** For the largest backlink and keyword databases, Ahrefs and Semrush are the usual upgrades.
* **You have enough research but not enough execution.** A research suite can uncover 300 opportunities. That is useful until you have a 300-item backlog and no idea which three things deserve attention this week.

***

## How I compared these Serpstat alternatives

I did not treat every product here as a complete Serpstat replacement, because most are not. I reviewed current pricing and documentation in September 2026 and split the workflow into keyword research and clustering, rank tracking, site audit, backlinks, competitor research, API access, first-party data and execution.

Where a vendor publishes limits or prices, I use those numbers rather than older comparison articles. Several popular lists still quote Serpstat at $59/month or Mangools at $29.90/month; both are out of date.

I did not run my own accuracy benchmark, so I do not claim one vendor's data is more accurate than another's. Keyword volumes and traffic estimates come from different datasets and models. In one [analysis of 1,635 websites](https://www.tryanalyze.ai/blog/traffic-estimations-accuracy), even Ahrefs and Semrush organic traffic estimates deviated from Search Console by a median of roughly 50–70%. Use third-party numbers to compare options and spot trends, not as exact figures.

I build RankBuddy, which is on this list. I say where it fits and where it does not, and I would not use it to replace Serpstat's raw keyword database or API.

***

## 1. Google Search Console + Google Ads Keyword Planner: the free starting point

**Best for:** Your own search data plus keyword and CPC planning | **Price:** Free | **What it replaces:** Part of keyword research, rank monitoring and performance analysis | **Main limitation:** No competitor data

With no budget, I would start with Google. Search Console gives you your own queries, impressions, clicks, CTR, average position, countries, devices and landing pages. Keyword Planner gives keyword ideas, search-volume ranges and bid estimates.

![Google Search Console, the free source of the clicks, impressions and positions Google recorded for your own site](https://rankbuddy.io/i/6d45dd47-b491-4793-93d0-e2cd2f7db294)

For a site you own, this is often more useful than a third-party database when deciding what to work on next. If a page has thousands of impressions and sits at positions 8 to 15 for a relevant query, Google is already telling you where the opportunity is.

The limitation is obvious: you cannot analyze competitors, check keyword difficulty or crawl another site. RankBuddy's [Google Search Console integration](https://rankbuddy.io/features/google-search-console) is built on this first-party data and turns query and page changes into prioritized work.

***

## 2. SE Ranking: the closest like-for-like Serpstat alternative

**Best for:** Agencies, consultants and teams that want an all-in-one suite with strong rank tracking | **Price:** Core $129/month, Growth $279/month (about 20% less billed annually), 14-day free trial | **What it replaces:** Keyword research, rank tracking, audits, backlinks, competitor research and reporting | **Main limitation:** More expensive than Serpstat Individual

SE Ranking is the tool I would compare first if I liked Serpstat's all-in-one model but wanted a stronger workflow around it. Both cover keyword research, rank tracking, site audits, backlinks and competitor research. SE Ranking puts more weight on tracking, client reporting and multi-project management.

![SE Ranking homepage with a 14 day free trial and no credit card required](https://rankbuddy.io/i/a1137218-0a05-4117-bee9-53632e7899e0)

Core includes projects, rank tracking, research, audits, integrations and API/MCP access. For an agency, repeatable reporting across many clients can easily justify the difference against Serpstat's Team plan.

For one small website, SE Ranking is harder to justify: Serpstat Individual at $50–$69 already covers most of the same jobs.

***

## 3. Semrush: the broadest upgrade from Serpstat

**Best for:** Teams that need deeper keyword and competitor data plus broader marketing workflows | **Price:** SEO Toolkit from $139.95/month | **What it replaces:** All of Serpstat's research jobs, with more depth | **Main limitation:** Roughly double the price, and API access sits on higher tiers

Semrush is the obvious move when Serpstat feels too shallow. Its SEO Toolkit covers keyword research, competitor analysis, Position Tracking, Site Audit, backlinks and AI-search visibility, with larger databases and more mature reports.

![Semrush plans and pricing on monthly billing: SEO at $139.95, Starter at $199, Pro+ at $299 and Advanced at $549 per month](https://rankbuddy.io/i/cd153481-7c99-4021-b6e9-78ff641cb792)

The trade-off is price and complexity. If Serpstat already answers your questions, paying roughly twice as much for a bigger platform only makes sense if you will actually use the extra depth. And if the API is why you use Serpstat, Semrush's API access is considerably more expensive.

My [free Semrush alternative](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/free-semrush-alternative) comparison covers the platform and its cheaper replacements in more detail.

***

## 4. Ahrefs: the alternative I would choose for backlinks and organic competitors

**Best for:** Backlink research, organic competitor analysis and content gaps | **Price:** Ahrefs Free for verified sites, Starter $29/month, Lite $129/month | **What it replaces:** Serpstat's backlink, competitor and keyword research, with deeper data | **Main limitation:** Lite is much more expensive than Serpstat, and Starter is limited

If backlinks are the job, Ahrefs is the clearest upgrade. It connects keywords, pages and links: when a competitor owns a topic, you can open the page generating that traffic and examine the backlink profile supporting it.

![The Starter plan on the Ahrefs pricing page at $29 a month, between the free account and the $129 Lite plan](https://rankbuddy.io/i/cc451fc5-5810-432f-86a8-e287b5b0b5cc)

Ahrefs Free gives verified site owners backlink and audit data at no cost, and the $29 Starter plan adds limited Site Explorer and Keywords Explorer access. For the full workflow you need Lite at $129/month, which is about twice Serpstat Individual.

Ahrefs uses Domain Rating as its authority metric. If you compare it with other tools' scores, read [Domain Rating vs Domain Authority](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/domain-rating-vs-domain-authority) first.

***

## 5. Mangools: the simpler and cheaper Serpstat alternative

**Best for:** Solo founders, bloggers and freelancers who mainly need keyword research | **Price:** Basic $61/month, or $37.70/month billed annually ($452.40/year) | **What it replaces:** Keyword research, SERP analysis, rank tracking and basic backlink checks | **Main limitation:** No site audit and smaller datasets

Mangools is appealing for the opposite reason Semrush is. Instead of more features, it splits SEO into a few focused tools: KWFinder for keywords, SERPChecker for SERP analysis, SERPWatcher for rankings, LinkMiner for backlinks and SiteProfiler for domain research.

![KWFinder by Mangools: a keyword search for long tail keywords with low SEO difficulty](https://rankbuddy.io/i/893a3600-8ce0-49c6-b57e-95c9233ef795)

If the thing pushing you away from Serpstat is its complexity, Mangools is the calmest workflow on this list, and at $37.70/month billed annually it is also cheaper than Serpstat Individual. The trade-off is depth: no site audit, no keyword clustering and much smaller backlink data. Every plan does now include API and MCP access, so if you only need keyword data in your own tools, Mangools can be cheaper than Serpstat Team. If you rely on Serpstat's clustering or audits, Mangools will not replace them. I compared it in my [Mangools alternative](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/mangools-alternative) guide.

***

## 6. RankBuddy: when SEO data needs to become work

**Best for:** Founders and small teams who want SEO findings prioritized and acted on | **Price:** 5 free runs, then Starter $29/month, Pro $49/month, Scale $79/month | **What it replaces:** Keyword prioritization, content planning, audits, competitor analysis and ongoing execution | **Main limitation:** Not a large raw keyword database and no public API

RankBuddy is my own product, so the boundary matters. If your job is exporting large keyword datasets, pulling data through an API or running bulk analysis, keep Serpstat. RankBuddy is not trying to be a bigger database.

It is built around what happens after the research. RankBuddy reads your Search Console data, inspects the site, researches keywords and [competitors](https://rankbuddy.io/features/competitor-analysis), runs audits and then tells you what deserves attention. A technical audit, for example, returns the critical issues first with an explanation of why each one matters:

![RankBuddy technical SEO audit report for rankbuddy.io showing analyzed scores, critical issues like render-blocking resources and missing image titles, and the start of a performance table](https://rankbuddy.io/i/b7186d0b-2950-40a4-8756-f838e01ec93e)

When Serpstat gives you 40 keyword clusters, the useful question is which one to work on first, whether you already have a page for it and whether your authority is realistic. RankBuddy's [SEO strategy](https://rankbuddy.io/features/seo-strategy) combines keyword data, competitor research and audit findings into one ordered plan for exactly that reason.

The distinction is simple:

* **Serpstat tells you what the data says.**
* **RankBuddy decides which part of it you should act on next.**

***

## 7. Ubersuggest: the budget all-in-one alternative

**Best for:** Small businesses that want a familiar all-in-one dashboard for less | **Price:** Individual $29/month or $290 lifetime | **What it replaces:** Basic keyword research, rank tracking, audits and competitor checks | **Main limitation:** Shallower data and no API

Ubersuggest fits someone who wants one simple dashboard instead of Serpstat's larger toolset. It covers keyword research, a small tracked keyword set, site audits and basic competitor and backlink checks.

![Ubersuggest by Neil Patel: one search box for a keyword or a website domain, with plans and pricing in the corner](https://rankbuddy.io/i/f9b6baa3-d136-41a9-967d-a47df7ba5346)

The lifetime option is its most distinctive feature: $290 once can be cheaper than a year of Serpstat Individual. The trade-off is depth, and there is no API. I compared this category in my [free Ubersuggest alternative](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/free-ubersuggest-alternative) guide.

***

## 8. SpyFu: better when competitor PPC is what you need

**Best for:** Competitor paid-search keywords, ad history and organic keyword research | **Price:** Basic $39/month (about $29 billed annually), Pro + AI $119/month after the first month | **What it replaces:** Serpstat's competitor and PPC research, with much longer history | **Main limitation:** Less complete as an all-in-one SEO suite

Serpstat includes PPC research, but SpyFu is built around it: which keywords competitors buy, estimated ad spend and more than 10 years of ad history. If paid-search competitor research is a big part of why you use Serpstat, SpyFu Basic at $39 is a focused and cheaper option.

![SpyFu homepage showing an SEO overview for a competitor domain with organic keywords, rank changes and inbound links](https://rankbuddy.io/i/84fa5417-6c93-4633-84dc-b551d3d31293)

It is weaker as a full suite: its site audit and backlink tools are newer and less mature. I covered it in detail in my [SpyFu alternative](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/spyfu-alternative) guide.

***

## Other Serpstat alternatives worth knowing

* **Moz Pro** — from $49/month, useful if your team works with Domain Authority. I covered it in my [Moz alternative](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/moz-alternative) comparison.
* **Screaming Frog** — free for up to 500 URLs, £199/year for the full licence. The tool I would add if technical auditing is the part of Serpstat you rely on most.
* **Similarweb** — if you actually need total competitor traffic across all channels rather than search data. See my [Similarweb alternative](https://rankbuddy.io/blog/similarweb-alternative) guide.

***

## Which Serpstat feature should you replace with which tool?

| Serpstat job | Alternative I would consider |
| ------------------------------------ | ---------------------------- |
| Free own-site search data | Google Search Console |
| Keyword ideas and CPC planning | Google Ads Keyword Planner |
| Like-for-like all-in-one suite | SE Ranking |
| Deeper keyword and competitor data | Semrush |
| Backlinks and organic competitors | Ahrefs |
| Simple keyword research | Mangools |
| Budget all-in-one | Ubersuggest |
| Competitor PPC research | SpyFu |
| Technical crawling | Screaming Frog |
| Prioritization and ongoing execution | RankBuddy |
| Cheap API and bulk SEO data | Keep Serpstat |

That last row matters. Sometimes the best Serpstat alternative is Serpstat. If you rely on its API, MCP integration or bulk data at $100–$129 a month, most replacements will either cost more or not offer it at all.

## How I would replace Serpstat for $0

If I ran one small website with no SEO software budget, I would not try to reproduce Serpstat completely. I would use:

1. **Google Search Console** for my own queries, clicks, impressions and positions.
2. **Google Ads Keyword Planner** for keyword ideas and search-volume ranges.
3. **Ahrefs Free** for my own backlinks and a technical audit on a verified domain.
4. **Screaming Frog Free** for deeper crawls when the site fits inside 500 URLs.
5. **SpyFu's free searches** for an occasional competitor snapshot.

The obvious limitation is competitor depth and keyword difficulty data. A free stack answers a lot of questions about your own site, but it will not replace Serpstat's competitor research, clustering or API.

## The cheapest Serpstat alternative is not always the cheapest workflow

Serpstat Individual costs $50 a month on annual billing. A free stack costs $0, so that looks like a $50 saving.

But suppose the free setup means another few hours a month collecting keyword data, checking competitors by hand, clustering keywords in spreadsheets and deciding what to update. The cheaper software did not create the cheaper workflow.

The same applies in the other direction. Moving to a bigger suite gives you more data, but more data rarely fixes the bottleneck of deciding what to do with it. Pick the alternative that removes the part of the workflow that is actually expensive for you.

## When I would keep Serpstat

I would keep Serpstat if its API or bulk data is part of my workflow. At $100–$129 a month for Team, it is one of the cheapest ways to get search analytics, backlink, rank tracking and audit data into your own tools, and the MCP integration makes it usable inside ChatGPT and Claude.

I would also keep it if Individual already covers my needs. For one site, 100 searches a day, 5 projects, rank tracking, audits and clustering at $50–$69 a month is hard to beat, and switching tools means rebuilding tracking history and workflows.

I would replace Serpstat when I can name a clear missing job: stronger agency reporting, deeper backlink data, a simpler interface, better coverage of my markets, or an execution layer that keeps the work moving after the research.

## My verdict

For **free SEO data on my own site**, I would start with **Google Search Console**. For the **closest like-for-like suite**, I would compare **SE Ranking**. For **deeper keyword and competitor data**, **Semrush**; for **backlinks and organic competitors**, **Ahrefs**; for a **simpler, cheaper keyword toolkit**, **Mangools**; on a tight budget, **Ubersuggest**; for **PPC competitor research**, **SpyFu**. And if I relied on the **API or bulk data**, I would keep **Serpstat**.

If my problem was not finding more SEO data but deciding **what to do with it**, I would use **RankBuddy**. Not because it has a bigger database than Serpstat — it does not — but because after a research session I want one decision: which realistic opportunity should my site work on next? That could mean updating an existing page, creating a missing one, fixing a technical issue, adding internal links, or leaving an attractive keyword alone because the SERP is unrealistic for my site.

That is the difference between **SEO research** and **SEO execution**.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the best alternative to Serpstat?

The closest like-for-like alternative is SE Ranking, which covers the same keyword, rank tracking, audit and backlink jobs with stronger agency reporting. For deeper data, Semrush or Ahrefs. For a simpler and cheaper keyword toolkit, Mangools. For turning SEO data into prioritized work, RankBuddy.

### How much does Serpstat cost?

Serpstat Individual costs $69/month, or $50/month billed annually. Team is $129/month or $100/month annually and adds API access and an MCP integration for ChatGPT and Claude. Agency is $499/month or $410/month annually. There is a 7-day free trial.

For free alternatives, combine Google Search Console, Google Ads Keyword Planner, Ahrefs Free for your own site and Screaming Frog's free crawler.

Yes, but not on the Individual plan. API access for search analytics, backlinks, rank tracking and site audit starts on the Team plan at $100/month billed annually, which also adds an MCP integration for ChatGPT and Claude.

Ahrefs has stronger backlink data and organic competitor research, but Lite costs $129/month. Serpstat is cheaper, adds keyword clustering and offers API access at a lower price. Choose Ahrefs for backlinks, Serpstat for an affordable all-in-one suite.
